Sir,?During the past few years I have liad the opportunity of paying some amount of attention to the prisoners' food in the Damoh, Nursingpore and Khandwali Jails of these Provinces, and as I have come to certain conclusions which 1 believe to be important, I feel in duty bound to ventilate them through your valuable journal, in the hope that they may be of use to others undertaking similar enquiries. To me it appears irresistible that the prisoners have been over-fed, and that on this account they have been made liable to many diseases which might have been prevented had the diet given to them been less in quantity.
